1971 Munch 1200

"The right bike regardless of cost" This was the request made to mtorcycle engineer Friedl Munch in the summer of 1965 .Eighteen weeks later the legendary Mammoth was born. Handbuilt and utilizing a 1000cc NSU car engine and magnesium electron castings this machine had no equal in the marketplace or on the autobahn. Subsequent demand for this machine resulted in the involvement of Busineess man Floyd Clymer in late 1967 to take it into full production. Essentially these handmade bikes took too long to produce and cost more than twice anything else available on the market.This motorcycle is the later TTS, displacing 1200cc and with twin 40mm Webers producing 85 hp. A wonderful surviving original example of the marque. Riding one of these is a revelation into the design genius and creativity of Friedl Munch. It is remarkably agile and quick proving itself well engineered and balanced.
